Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever takes charge of any affair of the Muslims with the intention of truth, Allah Almighty appoints two angels with him who grant him success and guide him; and whoever takes charge of any affair of the Muslims without the intention of truth, Allah Almighty leaves him to himself."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and al-Bazzar recorded it, but with these words: "The two angels grant him success and keep him on the right path, when good is intended for him." Its chain contains Ibrahim bin Khuthaym bin Irak, who is da'if (weak).
