Sayyiduna Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Khalid! Announce among the people that they should gather, and that none but a Muslim soul will enter Paradise." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out and led the midday prayer. Then he stood among the people and said: "I do not make it lawful to take the wealth of those under covenant (dhimmis) unjustly. Soon one of you will say, while reclining on his cushion: 'Whatever we find lawful in the Book of Allah we will treat as lawful, and whatever we find forbidden we will treat as forbidden.'" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Beware! I make it forbidden for you to take the wealth of those under covenant unjustly."
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and Imam Abu Dawud recorded a part of it; its chain contains a narrator, Baqiyyah, who is da'if (weak).
