Abu Salamah narrated: Marwan said: "Go and make peace between these two," meaning Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) and a woman named Arwa bint Uways. The narrator said: We came to Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him), and he said: "Do you think that I have diminished anything of her right? I bear witness that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Whoever takes a hand-span of land without right will be made to wear a collar of it from seven earths; whoever attaches himself in clientship (wala') to other than a people without their permission, upon him is the curse of Allah Almighty; and whoever seizes the wealth of a Muslim man by a (false) oath, Allah Almighty will not bless it for him.'"
Ahmad recorded it, and in the Sahih this part of it is reported: "Whoever seizes a hand-span of land will be made to wear a collar of it from seven earths." Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy). Al-Bazzar recorded it in abridged form, and Abu Ya'la recorded it in full.
