وَعَنْ عُمَرَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " مَنْ أَدْرَكَ مَالَهُ مِنَ الْفَيْءِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُقْسَمَ فَهُوَ أَحَقُّ بِهِ . وَمَنْ أَدْرَكَهُ بَعْدَ أَنْ يُقْسَمَ فَلَيْسَ لَهُ شَيْءٌ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ يَاسِينُ الزَّيَّاتُ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever finds his property among the fay' (that is, the spoils) before it is distributed has the greater right to it, and whoever finds it after it has been distributed will get nothing."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Yasin al-Zayyat, who is da'if (weak).
