Sayyiduna Abu Lubabah al-Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: A she-camel from among his long-held livestock was stolen. I found it with a man from the Ansar and said to him: "This is my she-camel, and I will establish proof of it." I established proof of it in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Ansari established proof that he had bought it for eighteen from an idolater from the people of Ta'if. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled, then said: "What do you wish, O Abu Lubabah? If you wish, give him the eighteen and take the camel, and if you wish, leave it with him." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, I do not have what I could give him today, but dates will come to me at the harvest." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That is up to him."
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains Abd al-Ghaffar bin al-Qasim, who is matruk (abandoned). The hadith of Sayyiduna Zabib on this matter will come later, in the chapter on judging on the basis of one witness and an oath.
