وَعَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الصَّبِيُّ عَلَى شُفْعَتِهِ حَتَّى يُدْرِكَ فَإِذَا أَدْرَكَ إِنْ شَاءَ أَخَذَ ، وَإِنْ شَاءَ تَرَكَ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الصَّغِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بَزِيعٍ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A child retains his right of pre-emption until he reaches maturity; when he reaches maturity, then if he wishes he may take it, and if he wishes he may give it up."
Imam Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Abdullah bin Bazi', and he is da'if (weak).
