Sayyiduna Yazid bin al-Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I recited a hundred verses of the poetry of Umayyah bin Abi al-Salt to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Whenever I recited a verse to him, he would say: More! And in that same gathering he said: "A neighbour is more entitled to his proximity (that is, his neighbourhood)."
Imam Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Khalid bin Yazid al-Umawi, and he is matruk (abandoned) and has been accused of lying. Ibn Hibban declared him thiqah (trustworthy) and also mentioned him in the book "al-Du'afa", saying: He is alone in narrating fabricated reports from trustworthy narrators. Nevertheless, this hadith is authentically established through other routes.
