Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that she heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever brings (barren) land to life (that is, cultivates it), then whatever living creature drinks anything from it, or whatever (creature) seeking provision obtains anything from it, Allah Almighty records a reward for that person because of it."
Imam Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Musa bin Ya'qub al-Zam'i, whom Yahya bin Ma'in and Ibn Hibban declared thiqah (trustworthy), and Ibn al-Madini declared da'if (weak); he is alone in narrating from his female teacher Quraybah.
