Sayyiduna Abu Qurad al-Sulami (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He called for water for ablution, dipped his hand in it, and then performed ablution. We took that water and drank it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why did you do this?" We said: "Out of love for Allah and His Messenger." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you want Allah and His Messenger to love you as well, then when you are entrusted with something, be trustworthy; when you speak, speak the truth; and be a good neighbour to whoever comes to live near you."
At-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Ubayd bin Waqid al-Qaysi, who is da'if (weak).
