Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 6612

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Sarjis (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), entered between his shirt and his skin, and kissed the Seal of Prophethood. I asked: "What is the thing that it is not lawful to withhold?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Salt." I asked: "Then what?" He said: "Water and fire."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat and al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Yahya bin Sa'id al-Attar, who is matruk (abandoned).
