بَابٌ فِيمَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - .
One who lies about the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)

وَعَنْ سَلْمَانَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَيَّ مُتَعَمِّدًا فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ بَيْتًا فِي النَّارِ ، [ وَمَنْ رَدَّ حَدِيثًا بَلَغَهُ عَنِّي فَأَنَا مُخَاصِمُهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، فَإِذَا بَلَغَكُمْ عَنِّي حَدِيثٌ فَلَمْ تَعْرِفُوهُ فَقُولُوا : اللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ .

Sayyiduna Salman al-Farisi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever deliberately attributes a lie to me, let him prepare to take (his) house in Hell. And whoever has a hadith from me reach him and rejects it, I will be his opponent on the Day of Resurrection. When a hadith from me reaches you which you do not recognize (or with which you are not familiar), then say: Allah knows best."
