Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Among the captives of (the Battle of) Badr there were some people who could not pay a ransom, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set their ransom as teaching the children of the Ansar to write. One day one of those boys came crying to his father. His father asked: "What has happened to you?" He replied: "My teacher hit me." His father said: "That vile man wants to take revenge for Badr. By Allah! He (the boy) will never go to him again."
Ahmad recorded it from Ali bin Asim, who made many mistakes and errors, though Ahmad declared him trustworthy.
