It is reported about Sayyiduna Amir bin Rabi'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he gave the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) a waterskin of wine as a gift. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "O Amir, do you not know that it was declared unlawful after you (left)?" He said: "Should I not sell it to a Jew, O Messenger of Allah?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The one who sells it is like the one who drinks it." So he poured it out.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy); its chain contains Yazid bin Sinan al-Ruhawi, who is da'if (weak).
