Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man from the tribe of Thaqif presented a waterskin of wine to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as a gift; this was after the prohibition of wine had been revealed. On the order of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), it was slit open. A man said: "If you had given an order about it, it would have been sold." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The One who has made drinking it unlawful has also made selling it unlawful."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat through al-Miqdam bin Dawud, and he is da'if (weak).
