Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: (At the birth of) Sayyiduna Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him), their heads were shaved by the order of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and then silver equal to the weight of their (hair) was given in charity. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not find (any animal) to slaughter.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and al-Bazzar recorded it. The chain of al-Tabarani's al-Mu'jam al-Kabir contains a narrator, Ibn Lahi'ah, and its chain is hasan (good), and the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
