وَعَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي ضَمْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - سُئِلَ عَنِ الْعَقِيقَةِ ؟ قَالَ : " لَا أُحِبُّ الْعُقُوقَ " . كَأَنَّهُ كَرِهَ الِاسْمَ ، وَقَالَ : " مَنْ وُلِدَ لَهُ فَأَحَبَّ أَنْ يَنْسُكَ عَنْ وَلَدِهِ فَلْيَفْعَلْ " .
A man from Banu Damrah narrated from his father: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the aqiqah, and he said: "I do not like 'uquq (disobedience)." (The narrator said:) It was as though the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) disliked the word. He said: "Whoever has a child born to him and would like to offer a sacrifice on behalf of his child, let him do so."
