بَابٌ فِيمَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - .
One who lies about the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)

وَعَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَيَّ مُتَعَمِّدًا فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ .
قُلْتُ : لَهُ فِي الصَّحِيحِ : " لَا تَكْذِبُوا عَلَيَّ ; فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ يَكْذِبُ عَلَيَّ يَلِجُ النَّارَ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الصَّغِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ بَدْرٍ ، وَقَدْ أَجْمَعُوا عَلَى ضَعْفِهِ .
قُلْتُ : لَهُ فِي الصَّحِيحِ : " لَا تَكْذِبُوا عَلَيَّ ; فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ يَكْذِبُ عَلَيَّ يَلِجُ النَّارَ " .

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever deliberately attributes a lie to me, let him prepare to take his particular seat in Hell." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: In the "Sahih" this hadith is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): "Do not attribute lies to me, for whoever attributes a lie to me will enter Hell."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir; its chain contains a narrator, al-Rabi' bin Badr, on whose weakness the hadith scholars are agreed.
