Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 6179

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The walimah on the first day is a right, on the second day it is a virtue (or extra), and on the third day it is showing off and seeking fame; and whoever seeks fame, Allah Almighty will expose his seeking of fame.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Ata' bin al-Sa'ib, who suffered from confusion (ikhtilat) in his memory.
