Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and he looked troubled. I asked him: What is the matter with you? He said: Jibril has not come to me for three days. (The narrator says:) There was a puppy in his house, and on his order it was killed. Then Sayyiduna Jibril appeared before him, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) hastened towards him when he saw him, and asked: Why did you not come to me? He replied: We do not enter a house in which there is a dog or images.
Ahmad, and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, recorded it in similar wording; the narrators of Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih. The hadith recorded by al-Tabarani has already passed with a weak chain.
