وَعَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ أُسَيْدٍ قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا - وَمَا يُضَحِّيَانِ مَخَافَةَ يُسْتَنُّ [ بِهِمَا ] فَحَمَلَنِي أَهْلِي عَلَى الْجَفَاءِ بَعْدَ أَنْ عَلِمْتُ مِنَ السُّنَّةِ حَتَّى إِنِّي لَأُضَحِّي عَنْ كُلٍّ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Sayyiduna Hudhayfah bin Usayd (may Allah be pleased with him) states: I saw Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) not offering sacrifice, out of fear that people would begin following them both (in it). But then my family pushed me into excess, even though I knew the Sunnah; they compelled me to offer a sacrifice on behalf of every single member.
