Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 5933

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "The most virtuous days of this world are the days of the ten" (the narrator says:) meaning (the first ten days) of Dhu al-Hijjah. It was asked: "(Is spending) the same number of days in the path of Allah (not more virtuous)?" He said: "(Spending) the same number of days in the path of Allah does not (carry as much virtue), except for the one who rubs his face in the dust (that is, is martyred)." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned the Day of Arafah and said: "It is a day of boasting (by Allah before the angels)." After that the narrator mentioned the whole hadith, which has already preceded as a long narration.
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain is hasan (good), and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
