Majma al-Zawaid 5796 — The sanctity of Madinah
وَعَنْ أَبِي الْيَسَرِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - حَرَّمَ مَا بَيْنَ لَابَتَيِ الْمَدِينَةِ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ رَاوٍ لَمْ يُسَمَّ .

Sayyiduna Abu al-Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) declared the area between the two edges (lava tracts) of Madinah a sanctuary.
