Sayyiduna Hamzah bin Amr al-Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) states: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at Arafah while my uncle had seated me behind him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had placed one of his fingers upon the other. I asked: "What is the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying?" He said: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is saying: 'Stone the Jamarat with pebbles small enough to be held between the fingers.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy). He (al-Tabarani) said: "No one narrated it with this chain except Ayyub, that is, al-Ghafiqi. The people narrated it from Ibn Harmalah, from Yahya bin Hind, from Aslam bin Kharijah."
