وَعَنْ عَلِيٍّ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ - قَالَ : لَا أَعْلَمُنَا إِلَّا خَرَجْنَا حُجَّاجًا مُهِلِّينَ بِالْحَجِّ ، فَلَمْ يَحِلَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَا عُمَرُ حَتَّى طَافُوا بِالْبَيْتِ ، وَبِالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ .
قُلْتُ : هَكَذَا وَجَدْتُهُ وَلَا أَدْرِي مَا مَعْنَاهُ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ عَوْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ ابْنِ الْحَنَفِيَّةِ ; وَلَمْ أَجِدْ مَنْ تَرْجَمَهُ .
قُلْتُ : هَكَذَا وَجَدْتُهُ وَلَا أَدْرِي مَا مَعْنَاهُ .

Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) says: As far as I know, we set out to perform Hajj, reciting the talbiyah for Hajj. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) did not come out of ihram until they had performed tawaf of the House and the sa'y between Safa and Marwah. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: I found this narration like this, and I do not know what it means.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains a narrator, Awn bin Muhammad bin al-Hanafiyyah; I have not found anyone who has given his biography.
