عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُوَاصِلُ إِلَى السَّحَرِ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to observe the continuous fast (sawm al-wisal) until the pre-dawn time (sahar).
Imam Ahmad recorded this narration, and Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
