Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) sent for me and invited me to the pre-dawn meal (suhur). He said: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) named it 'the blessed breakfast'."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Muhammad bin Ibrahim, the brother of Abu Ma'mar; he is Muhammad bin Ibrahim bin Ma'mar bin al-Hasan Abu Bakr al-Hudhali. Musa bin Harun al-Hammal said: "He is saduq (truthful); there is no harm in him." Yahya bin Ma'in was asked about Abu Ma'mar and he said: "Someone like Abu Ma'mar is not to be asked about; he and his brother are among the people of hadith." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) The rest of the narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.
