عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَصُومَ فَلْيَتَسَحَّرْ بِشَيْءٍ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَأَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَالْبَزَّارُ ، وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ ، وَحَدِيثُهُ حَسَنٌ ، وَفِيهِ كَلَامٌ .

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever intends to fast should take the pre-dawn meal (suhur), even with something."
Ahmad, Abu Ya'la and al-Bazzar recorded it, and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqil; his hadith is hasan (good), and there has been criticism of this narrator.
