Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 4765

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever leads a blind person until he brings him to his destination, forty of his major sins are forgiven, and four major sins that make Hell binding are also forgiven."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains a narrator, Umar bin Yahya al-Amali; I have not found anyone who has given his biography. Its chain also contains a narrator, Ali bin Yazid, who has been criticised.
