بَابٌ فِي نَفَقَةِ الرَّجُلِ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ وَأَهْلِهِ وَغَيْرِ ذَلِكَ .

وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " الْيَدُ الْعُلْيَا أَفْضَلُ مِنَ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَى ، وَابْدَأْ بِمَنْ تَعُولُ : أُمَّكَ ، وَأَبَاكَ ، وَأُخْتَكَ ، وَأَخَاكَ ، وَأَدْنَاكَ ، فَأَدْنَاكَ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The upper hand is more virtuous than the lower hand. Begin with those whom you support: your mother, your father, your sister and your brother, and (then) your nearest relatives in order of closeness."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its chain is hasan (good).
