Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 4459

Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a man to collect zakah; that man's name was Ibn al-Lutbiyyah. He collected the zakah, then returned to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! I have not left any right of yours behind (that is, I have collected it in full). Something was given to me as a gift, so I accepted the gift." (Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) says:) The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sat on the pulpit and said: "I send some men to collect zakah; then one of them comes and says: 'By Allah! I committed no wrong, nor did I leave any right of yours behind; but something was given to me as a gift, so I accepted the gift.' Why did that man not stay sitting in his mother's house, so that he could see who gives him a gift? Beware lest anyone of you comes (on the Day of Resurrection in such a state) that he is carrying on his neck a camel that is making noise, or a cow that is lowing, or a goat that is bleating." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised both his hands until the whiteness of his (peace and blessings be upon him) armpits became visible.
Al-Bazzar recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Ibrahim bin Isma'il bin Abi Habibah, who is da'if (weak).
