وَعَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " لَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ آدَمُ غَسَّلَتْهُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ بِالْمَاءِ وِتْرًا وَلُحِدَ لَهُ ، وَقَالَتْ : هَذِهِ سُنَّةُ آدَمَ وَوَلَدِهِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَرِجَالُهُ مُوَثَّقُونَ ، وَفِي بَعْضِهِمْ كَلَامٌ .

Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "When Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) passed away, the angels washed him with water an odd number of times, prepared a lahd for him, and said: 'This will be the Sunnah of Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) and his children.'"
Imam Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its narrators have been declared trustworthy, though there is criticism about some of them.
