بَابُ الصَّلَاةِ عَلَى مَنْ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ .
The funeral prayer over one who is in debt

وَعَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ قَالَ : أُتِيَ بِجِنَازَةٍ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " هَلْ عَلَى صَاحِبِكُمْ دَيْنٌ ؟ " ، قَالُوا : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " صَلُّوا عَلَى صَاحِبِكُمْ " ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ : هُوَ عَلَيَّ ، فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ الْعُمَرِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ كَلَامٌ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ الْعُمَرِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ كَلَامٌ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A bier was brought. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Is there any debt owed by your companion?" The people said: "Yes." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Offer the funeral prayer for your companion yourselves." A man said: "(That debt) is my responsibility." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led that man's funeral prayer.
Imam Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Abdullah al-Umari, about whom there is criticism. The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
