Sayyiduna Wahshi bin Harb (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Negus (al-Najashi) died, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his Companions: "Your brother the Negus has died. Stand up and offer the funeral prayer for him." A man said: "O Messenger of Allah! How can we offer the funeral prayer for him when he died in a state of disbelief?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Have you not heard this saying of Allah Almighty: 'Indeed, among the People of the Book are some who believe in Allah, and in what has been sent down to you, and in what has been sent down to them'" to the end of the verse.
Imam Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains a narrator, Sulayman bin Abi Dawud al-Harrani, and he is da'if (weak).
