Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: On the day of the Battle of Uhud, Sayyiduna Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred, and a man from the Ansar was also martyred along with him. Sayyidah Safiyyah bint Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with her) had brought two garments so that Sayyiduna Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him) could be shrouded in them. The Ansari man had no shroud, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cast lots between the two garments, and then each of the two men was shrouded in one garment.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Uthman al-Jazari al-Shahid; I did not find anyone who has given his biography. The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
