Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When Sayyiduna Hamzah bin Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) was killed, there was a striped woollen sheet (namirah) on his body. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was the one who placed him in his grave. When he covered his head, his feet would be exposed, and when he covered his feet, his head would be exposed. He asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about this, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed him to cover his head and to take some leaves of the 'alajan plant and place them over his feet.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir as the narration of Ayyub from al-Hakam bin Utaybah. I do not know who this person named Ayyub is. The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
