Sayyiduna al-Sa'ib bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the son of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyiduna Tahir (may Allah be pleased with him), passed away, tears flowed from the eyes of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). It was said: "O Messenger of Allah! Are you weeping?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The eye sheds tears, the tears are beyond control, and the heart grieves, but we are not disobeying Allah Almighty."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains a narrator, Yahya bin Yazid bin Abd al-Malik al-Nawfali, and he is da'if (weak).
