Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a woman in Jannat al-Baqi' who was sitting by a grave weeping. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "O servant-woman of Allah! Fear Allah Almighty and be patient." The woman said: "O servant of Allah! My child has died." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O servant-woman of Allah! Fear Allah and be patient." The woman said: "O servant of Allah! If this calamity had befallen you, you would have excused me." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O servant-woman of Allah! Fear Allah and be patient." The woman said: "O servant of Allah! You have made your point; now go away from me." The narrator says: So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went away. A man from among his Companions was following behind him; he stopped by the woman and asked her: "What did the man who has just left say to you?" The woman said: "He said such-and-such to me." The man said: "Do you recognise him?" The woman replied: "No." The man said: "That was the Messenger of Allah." The narrator says: The woman quickly got up and came, saying: "I will be patient, I will be patient, O Messenger of Allah!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Patience is at the first shock; patience is at the first shock."
Imam Abu Ya'la recorded it, and Imam al-Bazzar recorded part of this report. Its chain contains a narrator, Bakr bin al-Aswad Abu Ubaydah al-Naji, and he is da'if (weak).
