عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ : كَانَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَتَعَوَّذُ مِنْ مَوْتِ الْفَجْأَةِ ، وَكَانَ يُعْجِبُهُ أَنْ يَمْرَضَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَمُوتَ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْقُرَشِيُّ وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to seek refuge from sudden death. He liked that a person should fall ill before he dies.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Kabir. Its chain contains a narrator, Uthman bin Abd al-Rahman al-Qurashi, and he is matruk (abandoned).
