It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The death of one away from his homeland is martyrdom. When his final moment comes and he raises his gaze and looks to his right and left, he sees only the strangeness of exile; he remembers his family and his children and takes deep breaths. For every single breath he draws, Allah Almighty erases two thousand thousand (that is, two million) of his sins and records for him two thousand thousand (that is, two million) good deeds."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Kabir. Its chain contains a narrator, Amr bin al-Husayn al-Uqayli, and he is matruk (abandoned).
