It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty says: 'O son of Adam, when I take away your two dear things (that is, the sight of both eyes), and you are patient and hope for reward at the first shock, I will not be pleased with any reward for you less than Paradise.'"
(Allamah Haythami says:) I say: Ibn Majah recorded it in abridged form.
Ahmad and al-Tabarani in al-Kabir recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Isma'il bin Ayyash, about whom there is criticism.
