وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " الْمُصِيبَةُ تُبَيِّضُ وَجْهَ صَاحِبِهَا يَوْمَ تَسْوَدُّ الْوُجُوهُ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ رِقَاعٍ وَهُوَ مُنْكَرُ الْحَدِيثِ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Affliction will whiten the face of the one who bears it on the Day when many faces will be blackened."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Sulayman bin Riqa', and he is munkar al-hadith (his narrations are rejected).
