عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - لَيَقُولُ لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ : انْطَلَقُوا إِلَى عَبْدِي فَصُبُّوا عَلَيْهِ الْبَلَاءَ [ صَبًّا ، فَيَصُبُّونَ عَلَيْهِ الْبَلَاءَ ] ، فَيَحْمَدُ اللَّهَ فَيَرْجِعُونَ فَيَقُولُونَ : يَا رَبَّنَا صَبَبْنَا عَلَيْهِ الْبَلَاءَ صَبًّا كَمَا أَمَرْتَنَا فَيَقُولُ : ارْجِعُوا فَإِنِّي أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَسْمَعَ صَوْتَهُ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ عُفَيْرُ بْنُ مَعْدَانَ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty says to the angels: 'Go to My servant and pour trial upon him.' (The angels do so.) Then that servant praises Allah Almighty. When the angels return, they say: 'O our Lord, we poured trial upon him just as You commanded us.' The Lord says: 'Go back, for I love to hear his voice.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its chain contains a narrator, Ufayr bin Ma'dan, and he is da'if (weak).
