وَعَنْ أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ قَالَ : بَيْنَمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فِي مَسِيرٍ لَهُ ، وَبَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ رَجُلٌ يَنْظُرُ هَلْ فِي الطَّرِيقِ شَيْءٌ يَكْرَهُهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَيُمِيطُهُ ، فَإِذَا هُوَ بِامْرَأَةٍ عَجُوزٍ قَالَ : فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ .
قُلْتُ : ذُكِرَ هَذَا فِي تَرْجَمَةِ أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ ، وَالَّذِي قَبْلَهُ فِي تَرْجَمَةِ أَبِي مُوسَى ، فَلَا أَدْرِي أَحَالَهُ عَلَى أَيِّ شَيْءٍ . وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ .
قُلْتُ : ذُكِرَ هَذَا فِي تَرْجَمَةِ أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ ، وَالَّذِي قَبْلَهُ فِي تَرْجَمَةِ أَبِي مُوسَى ، فَلَا أَدْرِي أَحَالَهُ عَلَى أَيِّ شَيْءٍ . وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ .
Sayyiduna Abu al-Tufayl (may Allah be pleased with him) states: Once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was travelling, and a man was going ahead of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), checking whether there was anything on the road that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would dislike, so that if there were, he would remove it. Meanwhile an old woman appeared. After this the narrator mentioned the full hadith.
(Allamah Haythami says:) I say:
This narration is mentioned in the biography of Sayyiduna Abu al-Tufayl (may Allah be pleased with him), and the narration before it is mentioned in the biography of Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him). I could not determine from whom it is actually transmitted. And Allah knows best.
