وَعَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " مَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ يَسْتَيْقِظُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَيُوقِظُ امْرَأَتَهُ فَإِنْ غَلَبَهَا النَّوْمُ نَضَحَ فِي وَجْهِهَا مِنَ الْمَاءِ فَيَقُومَانِ فِي بَيْتِهِمَا فَيَذْكُرَانِ اللَّهَ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - سَاعَةً مِنْ لَيْلٍ إِلَّا غُفِرَ لَهُمَا " .

Sayyiduna Abu Malik al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever wakes up at night and wakes his wife as well, and if sleep overcomes her, he sprinkles water on her face, then they both get up and pray in their house and remember Allah Almighty for an hour of the night, then both of them are forgiven."
This narration was recorded by Imam al-Tabarani; its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin Isma'il bin Ayyash, who is "da'if" (weak).
