Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 326

Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A person cannot reach pure faith until he gives up jesting and lying, and gives up arguing even if he is in the right (in the argument)."
Abu Ya'la recorded it in "al-Kabir"; its chain states that Muhammad bin Uthman reported it from Sulayman bin Dawud, and I have not seen anyone mention either of them.
