وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ : إِنَّكُمْ فِي زَمَانٍ قَلِيلٌ خُطَبَاؤُهُ كَثِيرٌ عُلَمَاؤُهُ ، يُطِيلُونَ الصَّلَاةَ وَيَقْصُرُونَ الْخُطْبَةَ ، وَسَيَأْتِي عَلَيْكُمْ زَمَانٌ كَثِيرٌ خُطَبَاؤُهُ قَلِيلٌ عُلَمَاؤُهُ - فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "You are living in a time in which the orators are few and the scholars are many; they make the prayer long and keep the sermon short. Soon a time will come upon you in which the orators will be many and the scholars few." After this the narrator mentioned the full hadith.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
