وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا - قَالَتْ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَضْحَكُ مِنْ يَأْسِ عِبَادِهِ وَقُنُوطِهِمْ وَقُرْبِ الرَّحْمَةِ مِنْهُمْ " ، فَقُلْتُ : بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَوَيَضْحَكُ رَبُّنَا ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ ، إِنَّهُ لَيَضْحَكُ ! " . قُلْتُ : فَلَا يُعْدِمُنَا خَيْرًا إِذَا ضَحِكَ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ جَارِحَةُ بْنُ مُصْعَبٍ ، وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكُ الْحَدِيثِ .

Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Allah Almighty laughs at His servants becoming despairing and hopeless, while mercy is so near to them." I said: "O Messenger of Allah! May my father and mother be sacrificed for you, does our Lord laugh too?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes! By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, He does laugh!" So I said: "If He laughs, then He will not deprive us of good."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Jariyah bin Mus'ab, who is matruk al-hadith (abandoned in hadith).
