Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 2592

Sayyiduna al-Hakam bin Umayr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to teach us, saying: "When you stand for prayer, raise both your hands, not going beyond your ears, then say: Allah is the Greatest! You are free from every defect, O Allah; praise belongs to You; Your name is blessed; Your majesty is exalted; and there is no god besides You." (The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would say:) "If you say nothing besides the takbir, that will suffice you."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Yahya bin Ya'la al-Aslami, who is da'if (weak).
