Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 2591

Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed, he would raise both hands up to his ears, and when he had said the takbir, he would let them go. Sometimes I saw him place his right hand on his left hand. When he finished Surah al-Fatihah, he would remain silent for a while, then raise both hands up to his ears and go into bowing while saying the takbir. We would not go into bowing until we saw him in bowing. Then he would stand straight after bowing until every bone returned to its place, then he would raise both hands up to his ears. After this the narrator mentioned the complete hadith; this report will come later in the chapter on the manner of the prayer, if Allah wills.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, al-Khasib bin Jahdar, who is a kadhdhab (liar).
