Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 2477

Sayyiduna al-Sa'ib bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him) states: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard a man behind him turning over the pebbles while he was praying. (After finishing the prayer) the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Who was turning over the pebbles? A man said: O Messenger of Allah, I was. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: That is your share of your prayer.
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Yazid bin Abd al-Malik al-Nawfali, whom the Imams declared da'if (weak). According to one report Yahya bin Ma'in called him thiqah (trustworthy), and according to another report he declared him weak.
